5th Generation Enhanced Robot Autonomy

Duration: 01/01/2021 – 31/12/2023  |   Total Funding: €6,029,677.50

Challenge

5G-ERA’s main aim is to provide an enhanced 5G experimentation facility and relevant NetApps for 3rd party application developers so as to provide them with a 5G experimentation playground to test and qualify their applications, prior to porting them in live 5G Networks. There is also a requirement for open platforms that provide access to networks resources which can then be used to develop NetApps supporting requirements and developments from specific vertical sectors.

5G-ERA addresses successfully the 5G innovations for verticals with third party services. The improved usability, more efficient resource management and faster NetApp development will be delivered as part of the project’s use cases on open experimental platforms

Objectives

5G-ERA’S vision will be realised by the following objectives:

1

An intent-based networking paradigm for optimised QoE to support enhanced robot autonomy in real-world applications.

2

A 5G-ERA middleware which enables cloud native resource provision over autonomous robots.

3

Standardised APIs by integrating ROS with OSM.

4

Showcase enhanced QoE on experimental facilities for vertical applications.

In 5G-ERA eBOS will lead the Dissemination and Exploitation activities and will be responsible for the implementation of the project’s communication plan and its associated activities aiming to maximize project visibility and impact. Additionally, eBOS will lead the visualization and user interface development of the project with the design and implementation of the front-end dashboard.

Moreover, eBOS will:

1

Participate in the analysis of task requirements, environmental demands and vertical user needs for robotic applications with 5G enhanced robot autonomy

2

Contribute to the specification of architecture & protocols

3

Involved in the 5G testing framework as well as in the validation, verification and field trials for the use cases
