Challenge

6G-INTENSE’s vision: 6G-INTENSE envisions a future where 6G Smart Networks serve as a high-performance and energy-efficient infrastructure, laying the foundation for the development and deployment of advanced internet services. Positioned as a catalyst for an industry revolution and digital transformation, 6G is poised to accelerate the creation of smart societies, bringing about improvements in quality of life through advancements such as autonomous systems, haptic communication, and smart healthcare. Recognizing the need for sustainable solutions, 6G-INTENSE proposes innovative approaches to the architecture, federation, and orchestration of telecommunication infrastructures. In response to the unprecedented complexity arising from new architecture paradigms and the multi-stakeholder nature of 6G, 6G-INTENSE aims to abstract and federate computational and communication resources under an internet-scale framework. Governed by an intelligent orchestration paradigm termed Distributed Intent-driven Management and Orchestration (DIMO) plane, this transformative approach not only addresses the challenges of scale and heterogeneity but also aligns with future 6G networks’ overarching goal of achieving pervasive AI-driven intelligence, often referred to as Native AI.

Project Objectives

6G-INTENSE targets the following key objectives:

Offer a Distributed Intent-driven Management and Orchestration (DIMO) plane for autonomously reconciled intent declarations in multi-stakeholder ecosystems.

Deliver an intent-based Abstraction Framework for the 6G Network-Compute Fabric.

Deliver a scalable Compute Interconnection solution based on SD-WAN for self-organised Service Mesh deployments.

Deliver the first concrete AI Native Toolkit implementation, offering intent decomposition, actuation, and reconciliation towards fully Autonomous Domains.

Deliver a federated AI plane for multi-stakeholder 6G ecosystems, via knowledge optimisation, synthesis, and intent propagation mechanisms.

Support privacy-preserving Joint Communication & Sensing for resilience and dependability at the Deep Edge.

Maximise the project’s impact through wide means of dissemination, communication, exploitation and standardisation actions.

eBOS Role in the Project

On the technical side of the project, eBOS leads the implementation of the Domain Manager and Orchestrator together with the integration of the Native AI mechanisms. Furthermore, eBOS participates in the co-design and co-development of the AI-driven machine reasoning for intent decomposition, federated domain edge intelligence and knowledge optimisation, the development of intent APIs, and the adaptation of the developed software to the needs of the testbeds.

eBOS leads the dissemination and communication activities for maximising the visibility of the project by deploying various traditional and electronic communication materials to reach a broad spectrum of stakeholders. In addition to developing and sustaining the project’s website, eBOS will manage the social media presence for 6G-INTENSE.

Finally, leveraging its wide experience in the market, eBOS will contribute to the elaboration of 6G-INTENSE exploitation and sustainability plans.
