Challenges
The emerging European Data Economy relies on the availability of data as a basis for further innovation and exponential development of technologies, especially the development of trustworthy ‘made in Europe’ Artificial Intelligence (AI) that reflects European values. Data Spaces, platforms and marketplaces are key enablers for unleashing the potential of such data. However, data sharing and data interoperability are still at their infancy. The diffusion of platforms for data sharing and the availability of interoperable datasets is one of the key success factors, which may help to drive the European data economy and industrial transformation. However, the ambition to realise a cross-border, cross-sectoral sharing data space and enable platforms to process proprietary, personal and open public data requires to overcome technical, legal and business challenges along the data life-cycle.
Project Objectives
In addition to conventional raw data and its transformations along the processing chain, the aforementioned also extend to metadata, models and processing algorithms. In particular:
Provide tools to support a holistic approach of the data lifecycle in compliance with FAIR principles.
Build data management tools, systems and processes that enable, support and/or automate the creation and maintenance of common ontologies, vocabularies and data models.
Creation of links with relevant initiatives collecting/using heterogeneous/linguistic data and liaise with standardization bodies.
Provide tools that contribute to the minimization of the energy footprint, be adaptable to different user needs and support and encourage new business models.
Such needs have to be addressed in full alignment with the strong legal framework for data and in support of EU policies, upholding values regarding democracy, privacy protection and equality.
Role in the Project
eBOS’ role is focused on advancing the DataViz tool for advanced 3D data visualisation. Specifically, the DataViz tool will focus on improving the visual presentation of data and allow the extraction of meaningful information, which will support decision-making processes. eBOS will apply the results in the company’s WiseBOS Platform for enhancing the functionalities of its dashboards, simplify development, testing and deployment of new innovative applications and solutions. Furthermore, eBOS will be responsible for performing project quality assurance and risk management, as well as undertaking the design, development and implementation of the dissemination and communication activities with support from all consortium partners and in view of maximizing the outreach activities of the project.
