eBOS Hosted the First Review Meeting of the HERMES Project!



On the 14th of December 2022, the 1st review meeting of the HERMES project took place in Nicosia, Cyprus. The meeting was organised and hosted by eBOS, and chaired by the project coordinator, Mr. Christos Skoufis.
Representatives from the European Commission, the 3 Consortium partners eBOS, ITTI, and ITL (Cyprus, Poland, and Germany) and the project’s subcontractor TALGEN (Estonia) attended the review meeting. Dr. Loizos Christofi, R&D Director, Christos Skoufis, Senior R&D Project Manager, and Ms. Frini Lazarou R&D Project Manager represented eBOS.
During the full-day meeting, the partners had the opportunity to discuss the latest progress of the project, during the first year of its implementation. The discussion was based on the four work packages (WP) and focused on the results of the project, its recent achievements, the milestones reached, as well as the next steps moving forward.
- The review meeting started with a detailed presentation of the overall project progress, and management activities (including quality, risk, and innovation management), performed by eBOS. A plan for 2nd year activities was also presented.
- The activities carried out during the “Studies Phase”, were presented by ITL, with support from TALGEN. The successful achievement of the first 2 project milestones and the positive feedback received by the End User Advisory Board were also presented.
- ITTI presented the preliminary activities carried out during the “Design Phase”. These included an initial design of the project’s architecture and a security risk assessment.
- In the last part of the meeting, eBOS presented the dissemination, communication, and impact maximisation activities carried out by the Consortium. A fruitful discussion followed on the ongoing dissemination, training and capacity building activities of the project.
At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the European Commission expressed their positive feedback on the overall progress and results of the project by also providing suggestions for the 2nd year of implementation.
HERMES received total funding of 2.5M EUR as part of the European Defence Industrial Development Programme and will last for 33 months. The project brings together three small and medium-sized enterprises, with great expertise in software development and cybersecurity aiming to design and deliver the so-called ‘HERMES Data Exchange Platform (DXP)’, addressing different challenges relating to automation in cybersecurity and information sharing.
Within HERMES, eBOS, apart from its project coordination role, leads the project’s quality assurance, ensuring a high standard and quality outputs, and also acts as the project’s Innovation manager, leading activities for identifying and maximising the impact of key exploitable results of the project. In addition, eBOS participates to the feasibility study, design, and technical implementation of the HERMES Data Exchange Platform and to the dissemination and commercialisation activities of the project’s key outcomes.
Through its participation to HERMES, eBOS leads the R&D way in cyber defence! Indeed, eBOS is among the few SMEs selected to participate in the projects of the European Commission’s European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) for 2020 proving that it can actively contribute to the sector of European Cyber defence by developing local defence research, innovation, and technology. Via HERMES, eBOS seeks to enhance its cybersecurity expertise and incorporate the latest cutting-edge technologies in its commercial solutions, in order to benefit its clients.
HERMES – Advanced Design of the HERMES Data Exchange Platform supporting the Cyber Defence of Autonomous Military Systems – has received funding under the European Commission’s European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) for 2020, under Grant Agreement “EDIDP-SME-2020-099-HERMES”.
