HORIZON Europe RIGOUROUS Project Kicks Off!
On 10th and 11th January 2023, the RIGOUROUS project “secuRe desIGn and deplOyment of trUsthwoRthy cOntinUum computing 6G Services”, held its physical kick-off meeting (KoM) in Murcia, Spain. This 36-month EU-funded Research and Innovation Action funded under the HORIZON Europe SNS programme officially started on the 1st of January 2023.
Mr. Christos Skoufis (Senior R&D Project Manager), Dr. Marios Sophocleous (R&D Technical Project Manager), and Dr. Elli Symeou (R&D Project Manager) participated in the KoM, led by Dr. Antonio Skarmeta, representing the University of Murcia, as the coordinator of RIGOUROUS.
The meeting was attended by the project’s 11 partners and included partners’ presentations of the vision and objectives of the project, as well as an overview of the project’s expectations and guidelines by the European Commission’s Project Officer. Partners also discussed the project’s work plan, challenges and risks identified, and its implementation schedule.
RIGOUROUS project aspires to identify and address the major cybersecurity, trust, and privacy risks, threatening the next generation of mobile networks, devices, computing infrastructure, and services. RIGOUROUS will address these challenges by introducing a new holistic and smart service framework leveraging new machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) mechanisms, which can react dynamically to the ever-changing threat surface on all orchestration layers and network functions. RIGOUROUS new smart service framework is expected to be capable of ensuring a secure, trusted, and privacy-preserving environment for supporting the next generation of trustworthy continuum computing for 6G services along the full device-edge-cloud-continuum on heterogeneous multi-domain networks.
eBOS, has a major technical role in the RIGOUROUS project, leading the implementation of an AI-driven decision-making mitigation framework, which is envisioned to be one of the RIGOUROUS innovations. This will be assembled initially to prioritize threats, devise a mitigation plan, and eventually create a threat orchestration ecosystem. In addition, eBOS is leading the activities related to lab testing, focusing on the evaluation of the integrated prototype in a lab-based environment prior to the roll-out of the system through relevant use cases in trials. Finally, eBOS is leading the exploitation and innovation activities of the project. Under this task eBOS will manage all the activities related to the exploitation of project outcomes and make sure they are in line with the business planning towards the market and interacted with a wide range of stakeholder communities through the RIGOUROUS forum.
