ICONET General Assembly virtual workshop

On the 3rd of February 2021, the EU-funded ICONET H2020 project successfully held its final General Assembly with the participation of all 16 European partners. The meeting was organised in a virtual format and chaired by the Project Coordinator, Mr Gerasimos Kouloumbis, representing INLECOM. The project is due to officially complete on the 28th of February 2021.  eBOS R&D Senior Project Manager Philippos Philippou, took part in the meeting which reviewed the seminal outcomes and achievements of the project.  During the meeting, the key outcomes of the project were outlined along with the results achieved in the 4 industrial Living Labs whose implementation was under the responsibility and leadership of eBOS. Moreover, eBOS was responsible for the Quality Assurance Task safeguarding the quality of the deliverable outputs and ensuring compliance to project requirements. Over its 30 month duration, the project brought forward innovation supported by the concept of the Physical Internet (PI) which has the potential to fuel new business models that underpin intermodal transport, warehousing and ecommerce. This new innovative concept can indeed revolutionize the way physical goods are transported and enable cost minimizations and improved efficiencies in the supply chain industry, as investigated and demonstrated during the project. The findings of novel technological solutions and interconnectivity possibilities of future Physical Internet actors have indeed proven that PI remains a promising foundation on which future collaborative Logistics business models can be built on. The ICONET project is a 30-month research project, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under the Grant Agreement number 769119.
