New H2020 Green Building and Energy Optimization project PROBONO kicks off!
On the 26th and 27th of January 2022, the new H2020 project PROBONO kicked off. The project title is ‘The Integrator-centric approach for realising innovative energy efficient buildings in connected sustainable green neighbourhoods’. The meeting was attended by the 47 consortium partners from 15 countries. It was hosted and moderated by the project coordinator, Ms. Magdalena Rozanska of ACCIONA Ingeniería, at their premises in Madrid, Spain.
PROBONO is an Innovation Action that will run for 5 years, with a total budget of € 25 million. The project aims to provide validated solutions for the design, construction and operation of zero-emissions and positive energy buildings as part of sustainable Green Building Neighbourhoods (GBN). This ambition will be made possible by the multidisciplinary expertise of the consortium that includes construction companies, consultants, public asset service managers, municipalities, and technology providers.
PROBONO’s solutions will include strategic planning tools, GBN construction and renovation enablers, and digitalization through digital twins. All of which will contribute to the design and optimization of this novel GBN ecosystem.
To demonstrate how technological and social innovations related to green buildings and neighbourhoods can be applied for the benefit of society, PROBONO’s solutions will be piloted across six European districts in six countries where the project living labs (LL) will be established. The six living labs consist of two municipality driven large-scale demonstrators in Madrid (Spain) and Dublin (Ireland), and four business-driven living labs representing owners and promoters of green neighbourhood’s transition in Porto (Portugal), Brussels (Belgium), Aarhus Netherlands), and Prague (Czech Republic).
Dr. George Guirgis, Senior R&D Project Manager, represented eBOS Technologies at the kick-off meeting. Each partner introduced their background, as well as their individual role in the project. The meeting focused on the work plan, and how the different work packages will interact. It also served at establishing a common vision of the project.
In PROBONO, eBOS Technologies will leverage its 19+ years of technical experience as an IT company, as well as its track record in numerous EU-funded research projects. eBOS will undertake the key role of Quality Manager, and thereby be responsible for establishing project quality evaluation criteria and risk assessment procedures, performing risk assessments, triggering quality assurance project reviews, undertaking continuous monitoring of deliverables, and evaluation measurements and producing risk and quality review reports.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No 101037075.
