secuRe desIGn and deplOyment of trUsthwoRthy cOntinUum computing 6G Services

RIGOUROUS project aspires to identify and address the major cybersecurity, trust, and privacy risks threatening next generation mobile networks, devices, computing infrastructure, and services. RIGOUROUS will address these challenges by introducing a new holistic and smart service framework leveraging new machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) mechanisms, which can react dynamically to the ever-changing threat surface on all orchestration layers and network functions.
RIGOUROUS new smart service framework is capable of ensuring a secure, trusted, and privacy-preserving environment for supporting the next generation of trustworthy continuum computing of 6G services along the full device-edge-cloud-continuum on heterogeneous multi-domain networks. This includes establishing compliance with the design of software, protocols, and procedures, as well as AI-governed mechanisms to cope with the security-related requirements in the full DevOps lifecycle, from the service onboarding up to the day-2 operations.
Furthermore, the DevOps lifecycle spans from the prevention and detection of anomalies and/or intrusions at different levels (physical or cyber) based on violation of policies or rules, up to their mitigation and policy enforcement. It also comprises the incorporation of the human factor starting from the design until the human-in-the-loop concept in the whole orchestration.
Extensive research devoted to realizing advanced security enablers will also be carried out to bring automation and intelligence to the smart, but also secure, orchestration concept.
To research, design and develop a holistic Smart Service framework for securing the IoT-Edge-Cloud continuum lifecycle management.
To research, design and implement Human-Centric Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps).
To research, design and develop model-based and AI-driven Automated Security Orchestration and Trust Management.
To research, design and deploy advanced AI-driven Anomaly Detection, decision and Mitigation Strategies in Proof of Concept settings.
To demonstrate a Set of Industrially Relevant Use Cases in near Operational Environments.
Role in the Project
eBOS, has a major technical role in the RIGOUROUS project, leading the implementation of an AI-driven decision-making mitigation framework, which is envisioned to be one of the RIGOUROUS innovations. This will be assembled initially to prioritize threats, devise a mitigation plan, and eventually create a threat orchestration ecosystem. In addition, eBOS is leading the activities related to lab testing, and the evaluation of the integrated prototype in a lab-based environment prior to the roll-out of the use cases in trials.
Finally, eBOS is leading the exploitation and innovation activities of the project. Under this task, eBOS will manage all the activities related to the exploitation of project outcomes and makes sure they are in line with the business planning towards the market and interacted with a wide range of stakeholder communities through the RIGOUROUS forum.
