SANCUS project makes progress towards a more secure ICT network

On the 20th and 21st of January 2022, Dr. Charalambos Klitis and Dr. George Guirgis, members of the R&D department, represented eBOS Technologies at the 6th plenary meeting of the HORIZON 2020 project SANCUS, “analySis softwAre scheme of uNiform statistiCal sampling, aUdit and defence processes”. Due to the current pandemic and travel restrictions, the 15 partners from 8 European countries met virtually. The meeting was hosted by the project coordinator, Dr. Hicham Khalife, representing THALES.

The Plenary meeting provided the opportunity to reflect on work achieved, particularly within the context of Work Package 2 (WP2). Indeed, during the first year of the project, WP2 produced requirements and the design of the detailed SANCUS architecture. During the past year, the SANCUS partners engaged in further discussions on the requirements and specifications for the SANCUS components. The resulting SANCUS architecture was finalised at the end of the first year, and passed on to the technical implementation work packages.

More recently, the partners have focused on the development of the SANCUS security suite. On the theoretical side, the partners have used a comprehensive mathematical formula to predict the needs and capabilities of SANCUS engines concerning power consumption, latency, and throughput. At the same time, on the experimental side, the partners have started the implementation of SANCUS engines, with initial demonstrations which were presented at the plenary meeting. All partners are closely working together to improve the results provided by SANCUS engines and cointegrate them together.

eBOS actively engaged in the meeting through the discussion on the architecture as well as WP7 leader, responsible for dissemination, communication, standardisation and exploitation efforts. eBOS contribution to the discussion was based on specific security concerns the system needs to address along with the business and technical requirements. With regards to WP7, eBOS led the discussion on how to increase the impact of the project through various communication channels. Furthermore, the consortium discussed the exploitation of the project’s results and their compliance with communication standards.

SANCUS is an EU-funded project under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement 952672. More information for the project can be found on the project website (
